About the Centre/ServiceThe position is for an outstanding innovative teacher to teach one group of 3 year olds. The position will also include provision of before session care and coverage of lunch breaks for other team members. The position is for 15.5 hours per week and falls under the VECTEA Award.

DescriptionPosition: Qualified Early Childhood Teacher Location: Moreland Early Years Management - Gowanbrae Children’s Centre Hours Per Week: 15.5 hours Salary: In accordance with the VECTEA 2016 Position Summary: As an qualified Early Childhood Teacher, this position has responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of a funded 3-year-old Kindergarten program. The successful incumbent should demonstrate expertise, experience and a commitment to the delivery of high quality education and care programs to children and families. Moreland Early Years Management is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative leader to join our team as a three-year-old Kindergarten Teacher at one of our community-based centres. This role is for 22.5 hours per week including teaching commitments on Mondays and Tuesdays. Non-contact time will be on a Wednesday morning. It also includes the provision of before session care for 3 year old children and coverage of lunch breaks for other team members in our busy service. The successful person will teach one group of three-year-old children. Moreland Early Years Management (MEYM) is a not-for-profit Early Years Management organisation, which manages 6 kindergartens in the City of Moreland. MEYM is a relatively new organisation and we are looking for innovative, enthusiastic staff who are committed to providing innovative programs for children and developing values-based relationships with team members, children and families.   • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with MEYM’s General Manager, MEYM Board members, family members, other staff and professionals.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative, flexible and professional manner with staff, children, families and MEYM staff
  • Ability to challenge and support early childhood teachers and educators to improve their approach to teaching children
  • Well-developed leadership and self-motivation skills.
Essential requirements
  • Qualifications suitable for an early childhood teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law, Education and Care Services National Regulations and the DET Kindergarten Funding Guide.
  • A current VIT registration.
Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated strong understanding of contemporary curriculum approaches, specifically a thorough knowledge of the approved curriculum frameworks and how these may be represented In high quality and innovative planning and programming for children. Demonstrated expert knowledge of all legislation governing the operation of children’s services, as well as a solid understanding of the quality areas under the National Quality Standards, including the ability to actively contribute to the development of the QIP. Have a thorough understanding of the Early Childhood Australia (ECA) Code of Ethics, Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Code of Conduct and MEYM’s Code of Conduct and be able to support other staff in their understanding of these Codes. Ability to adapt and lead change management. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement child focused/ child led programs. Demonstrated thorough understanding of reflective practice and critical thinking and be able to provide leadership to other staff in successfully engaging in this. Positive solutions based approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
