Assistant Accountant

Job Summary

The Assistant Accountant’s role is to support the Financial Accounting Manager (FAM) and across the finance team with timely and accurate transactions and analysis as inputs to the production of monthly accounts, budgets and forecasts.

Job Responsibilities

• On a monthly basis support the preparation of the preliminary sales report, upload of the trial balance into One Stream.

• Provide assistance with review Profit and Loss including Operating Expenditure, prepare month end and year end expense accruals as appropriate

• Prepare, as required, One Stream journal vouchers

• Perform trial balance reconciliation of M3 to One Stream, including Fixed Assets

• Assist as required with the preparation of the Dashboard report for management reporting

• Balance Sheet account reconciliation - completeness check

• Assist with the review of Balance Sheet account reconciliation, including source documentation is available and appropriately completed e.g. approved CAPEX

• Prepare the Manual Journal review file for the FAM

• Prepare the Vendor database change review file for the FAM

• Assist the FAM with the FASS report

• Perform the reconciliation of Operating leases - IFR 16

• Extended Warranty database maintenance and monthly journals

• Intercompany invoicing and issuing of Intercompany statements

• Transfer price adjustments reporting

• Other month end task as required

• Preparation of Stat accounts for NZ

• Assist the FAM and the Management Accountant with AU stat accounts

• Assist with preparation of income tax analysis

• Dealer benchmarking report

• Assist with AU and NZ FBT Return

• Assist with review of monthly BAS return

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement including M3 Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, OPEX, and other report (PDF) enhancements

• Provide internal control checks including identification and troubleshooting of system errors

• Ongoing monitoring of other finance team control procedures including review and update procedures as required

• Conduct all activities in accordance with Corporate and local policies

Moderate/reasonable - Requires good analytical skills as well as evaluative judgement based on the analysis of factual and qualitive information in complicated or novel situations. Multiple sources of information refer to a diverse range of internal and external sources such as procedures and practices in other areas, team, companies etc. The ability to filter, prioritize, analyse and validate potentially complex and dynamic material.

Key Performance Indicators

• Delivery of consistent, accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis in-conjunction with the FAM

• Detailed analysis compared with reference points e.g. Budget/Forecast, Prior Year

• Effective cross department communication

• Requires good understanding of accounting with the analytical skills to work through results and provide feedback on variances. Ability to source information from ERP/databases as well as seek information through liaising with key contacts from across the global company and third parties. The ability to prioritise work activities within a tight reporting timetable.

Minimum Qualifications Required

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Business

• Experience in management and financial accounting

• Experience in a large complex organization with tight reporting timetable

• Advance Microsoft Excel and database skills

• Demonstrated ability to work across various functions in the business and manage stakeholders

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Minimum Level of Education Required for Position

Education - Bachelor's Degree Description: Finance

Specific Training or Certification Required

Yes - CPA/CA (or studying/willing to study towards)
